The largest and most visited recreational centre in Eagle mountains. It is situated in the valley of streams Bělá and Deštenský potok. First mentioned in the year 1362 as the woodcutters settlement. Later there had originated several glass-works, last of them works to the year 1910. Former timber houses are toudy mostly use as recreational objects. In the cenre of village there is the Baroque church of St. Mary Magdalene from the years 1723-26. Deštné is also the largest ski-centre in Eagle mountains. Most of downhill routes and ski lifts are situated on the northern slopes in part called Zákoutí. In the surroudings there are aslo many cross-country skiing tracks. Deštné is the main starting point for trips to the highest mountain of Eagle mountains - Velká Děštná.
